Summer is a really boring time of the year. There just isn’t anything to do. (pause…) HAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHAHA! I just made myself laugh hehe. One would think getting a break from my sports teams, and lessons and what not that run through out the rest of the months would mean that once summer comes I would have loads of time. Yeah, not so much. Outside chores fit the holes all to well, and with all the rain this spring, the lawn needs to be trimmed what seems like daily (and we are not even going to mention the water in the basement). But now as I find myself sitting down to write this and I am staring out at a gorgeous summer day (finally), I have to wonder am I missing the point?
When I was watching The Big Bang Theory the other night, I was happy to see one of the main plots was going to be about gaming. I was, however, a little disappointed when the writers portrayed the non-geek character of Penny as not having fun while playing a card game with her Geek friends. Why? Obviously the writers have to be somewhat geeky themselves or they would never understand the ins and outs of the Geekdom in the show.(Is it possible that they have a Geek consultant? Who knows?) But why would they think that a ‘Normal’ (aka non-geek) wouldn’t enjoy a game such as the one they played?
